How to Reduce the Size of JPEG Pictures
JPEG images created by devices such as digital cameras and cellular phones with a high megapixel count can be very large, depending on the camera setting. Large images take a long time to load, and may not display correctly. You don't need expensive image-editing software to resize your pictures. You can reduce the size of JPEG images using the Microsoft Paint program included with Windows.
Instructions

-
1
Right-click on the file name of the JPEG you want to resize, position your pointer over "Open with" and then click "Paint."
-
2
Click "Resize" in the top menu bar. The "Resize and Skew" window will appear. Percentage and "Lock aspect ratio" are selected by default. Lock aspect ratio keeps the horizontal and vertical ratio the same. Uncheck it to change the settings independently.

3
Click the "Horizontal" or "Vertical" field and type the percentage you want the picture reduced to. For example, if you want to reduce the size of the picture by 20 percent, type "80" in either box.
-
4
Click the button next to "Pixels" to change the image based on pixel count. For example, if you want a picture that is 1000 by 1000 pixels reduced to 800 by 800 pixels, type "800" in the "Horizontal" or "Vertical" field.
-
5
Click "OK" to resize the image.
-
6
Click the "Paint" button on the top left corner of the screen. The icon resembles a file with a down arrow.
-
7
Click "Save" to overwrite the existing image, or "Save as" to create a new file. Type the new file name in the "File Name" box, and then click the "Save" button.
