Instructions for Binding Off Knifty Knitters

The Knifty Knitter is a circular knitting loom manufactured by Provo Craft. Knifty Knitter looms are either circular or oval in shape. To use one, you wrap yarn around the pegs and use a loom tool similar to a crochet hook to lift the wraps over each other. Working on a loom creates a knitted tube that can be used for leg warmers, sweater sleeves, headbands or any other craft project for which you would normally use circular knitting or crochet. Binding off is the last step of a Knifty Knitter project, in which you close off the edge stitches.

Things You'll Need

  • Knifty Knitter loom
  • Yarn
  • Hold the loom so that it is facing you and the working yarn is coming from the top peg.

  • Use your loom tool, your fingers or a crochet hook to lift the stitch off the peg to the right of the one holding the working yarn.

  • Lay the stitch you are holding onto the same peg as the working yarn.

  • Lift the stitch holding the working yarn over the stitch on top and off the peg.

  • Put the remaining loop back on the peg to the right.

  • Lift the loop off the next peg to the right.

  • Repeat Step 3 through Step 6 until you have one loop remaining. Break your working yarn, lift the loop off the peg, thread the yarn tail through the last loop and pull it tight to close the bind off.
