How to Draw a Moon With a Face
If you look at the moon on a very clear night, the craters and shapes on its surface seem to make a face. Some call this face the "Man in the Moon" and tell stories about him. The moon is often personified in myths and tales, becoming everything from the Sun's lover to the goddess of all women. Whether the moon has special significance for you or you simply love celestial designs, a moon with a face can enhance an already eclectic décor or tattoo scheme.

1
Adjust your mathematical compass to about 4 inches to draw an 8 inch diameter circle. Place the compass point in the center of your paper and move the graphite point around it to create the circle.
-
2
Place the point of the compass about 2 inches outside the right side of the circle. Draw an arc inside the existing circle, creating a crescent shape on the left side of the circle. Erase the right side of the circle.
-
-
3
Draw a single, slightly curved line right through the center of the crescent. This marks space for the moon's nose. Draw similar lines about 1.5 inches above and below the nose line for the eyes and mouth.
-
4
Erase the curved arc between the first and third horizontal lines. Start at the top of the erased section and draw a slight inward dip at the first horizontal line, marking the moon's forehead.
-
5
Continue drawing downward, bringing the line out into a nose shape. The nose may be small and pointed, rounded, long and thin or bulbous. The choice is yours.
-
6
Draw the line down into two small bumps for the lips. The lips may be pursed in slumber or thought, or simply relaxed.
-
7
Draw a V-shape with the opening pointing toward the forehead indent. Draw a small curved smile behind the lips. Your man in the moon has come to life.
