Posters make great wall art, once they are framed. Movie posters, posters of actors or simply poster-size photos are wonderful display items. Purchasing the wrong size frame can not only be costly, but look silly if you try to use it. Measure your poster carefully before purchasing or making a frame to ensure it will fit perfectly.
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
Lay the poster out on a table or the floor. Make sure the surface is clean before spreading out the poster.
Lay the measuring tape along the vertical side of the poster. Ensure that you hold it taught; write down the measurement to the closest quarter inch.
Repeat the above step, measuring the horizontal side of the poster instead.
Take your measurements to the frame shop to buy your frame. The shop keeper will help you pick out the right size frame.
Tips & Warnings
- If your frame is not a perfect square or rectangle, you will need to measure all four sides.
- Purchase a frame that is the same size as your poster; if you get one any bigger, the poster could fall within the frame. Too small, and you will have to cut off a portion of the poster.
