How to Draw a Volcano
Volcanoes may be frightening in real life, but drawing them is very simple and fun. When thinking of a volcano, we imagine a scary mountain bursting in flames. This image is precisely what makes a volcano drawing so unique. Any drawing that depicts a motion sensation is interesting to create, and makes the drawing experience that much more exciting. You can experiment with different shades of color, and design diverse shapes, since the more uneven the structure, the more realistic the volcano will look.

1
Draw the volcano mountain. Trace two slightly bumpy lines, carefully shaping them into a mountain. Add thin, zig-zagged lines over the mountain to give it a rock-like texture.
-
2
Sketch a small oval-shaped circle at the top of the two lines. This is the volcano's opening.

-
3
Add the magma. Starting on the left top side of the mountain, trace a downward line and form a U-shape by returning it to the top. Repeat this process, this time making the line shorter. Continue doing this until you cover the top-half of the mountain.
-
4
Pencil in the steam cloud, starting at the top of the oval.
-
5
Add small, curved lines to the steam cloud to give it a realistic appearance.
-
6
Draw large and small drops at each side of your volcano. This gives the drawing its erupting effect.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to add some color, mix orange and red tones for the magma. This gives a nice finish to the drawing.
