How to Draw a Bear Paw Print

Bears leave their paw prints behind in the sand.

Understanding a bear's behavior and habitat is critical for people to learn how to peacefully live in an area where bears exist. Parents and teachers can inform children about bear facts, and dismiss any myths that the children may have heard. Once the lesson on bears is over, children can draw their very own bear paw print, as a reminder of what a fascinating creature bears really are.

Things You'll Need

• Reference paw print
• Sketch paper
• Pencil

Instructions

1. Obtain a reference bear paw print to examine. You can either get one from your school science textbook, the library or the Internet.

2. Draw a horizontal oval in the middle of your sketch paper. This is the part of the bear's sole that is just below its toes.

3. Connect a vertical oval to the horizontal oval to form the bottom portion of the bear's sole.

4. Add five circles above the top portion of the bear's sole. These circles are the bear's toe prints. They should not extend past the width of the upper sole.

5. Add a thin, tiny triangle above each of the five toes to create the indent that is formed by the bear's claws.
