How to Fix a Sticky Pfister Faucet

If your Pfister faucet is sticking when you attempt to change the temperature of the water or shut it off, there is a method to repair this. The sticking handle is a result of a damaged cartridge.       Turn the water to the faucet off by shutting the control valves under the sink.

      Remove the Price Pfister faucet handle. Start by unscrewing the small, set screw which is installed along the base of single handle faucets, and on top of the double handle faucet models under a round cap which pops off. Pull the handle off the faucet base carefully. Or, unscrew the base and remove the handle, in the case of two handle faucets with a round base.

      Unscrew the bonnet, the nut underneath the handle and take it off. Remove the cartridge under it by lifting it out of the handle base.

      Remove all debris, dirt or parts which may block the cartridge from turning. Replace the cartridge and bonnet.

      Inspect the old handle for signs of debris, wear or damage. Replace with a new part if any is detected. Attach and connect the handle by sliding it onto the cartridge and securing the set screw with your Allen wrench.
