How to Make an Origami Alligator
Origami is the traditional Japanese art of folding paper. Just as with other animals, making an origami alligator starts with a square sheet of paper. For better effect, consider using dark green paper. The finished animal can be decorated as desired.

1
Fold the two opposing sides of a square piece of paper so that they meet at the center. Place the paper so that the center line is horizontal.
-
2
Fold the opposing right and left sides so that they meet in the middle. When creases have been made, fold them back to their original position.
-
-
3
Fold each of the four corners so that they meet the center line. The preformed crease forms the vertical edge of the resulting four equilateral triangles.
-
4
Take the inside point of one of the triangles and move it from the outside edge of the paper so that it touches the vertical center line. Do this for the other three.
-
5
Turn the paper over. Grasp the top left point that is midway between the horizontal and vertical center lines. Bring it down to touch the horizontal center line. Do this for the other three points.
-
6
Hold the top-most point and fold it over. The fold line is between the top corners of the two triangles. Repeat the fold for the bottom-most point.
-
7
Turn the paper over. Cut along the horizontal center line 2 cm from the left-most end. Fold the top left edge in along the line between the point made by the end of the cut and the top left corner.
-
8
Grasp one of the points of the four triangles that meet along the vertical line. Fold it back so that the point lies outside of the main body of paper and the longest part of the triangle is vertical. Repeat this process four times to create the alligator's legs.
-
9
Fold the paper in half along the horizontal center line to complete the alligator.
