Instead of sending a generic text message to your friend, you can add symbols to show what you want to say. For example, instead of saying you're listening to a song, you can use a music symbol to show you are listening to it. You can even add a music symbol to a set of lyrics you text to a friend. You must send these texts via the computer to a cell phone so the music symbol shows up on your phone.
Open an Internet browser of your choice and log into your email with your user name and password. Open a new email message.
Type the phone number followed by the email provider's domain in the "to" field (see Tips).
Type the message in the body of the email. Hold "Alt" and the number "1" and "3" to make a single music note or "Alt" and "1" and "4" to make a double music note.
Click "Send" to send the email as a text to your phone.
