How to Burn Ubuntu to a DVD-R

Ubuntu is a Linux operating system distributed by Canonical. The operating system is free to download, use, modify and share. Ubuntu can be booted and installed from a DVD, CD or a USB flash drive. If you would like to try the Ubuntu operating system, you can use your DVD burner to create a disc from the free ISO image available at the Ubuntu website.

Things You'll Need

  • DVD Burner
  • DVD-R
  • Download the latest edition of the Ubuntu operating system from the Ubuntu website. Save the file to your desktop.

  • Open your system's disc burning drive and insert a blank DVD disc.

  • Close the drive door.

  • Double-click on your newly downloaded ISO file, then choose your DVD-R disc burner from the device selection screen.

  • Select the "Verify" checkbox to make sure the information on the disc is stored correctly.

  • Select "Burn" to start the ISO burning process.

  • Click "Close" when the burn process completes.
