How to Put Words Into a Semicircle

Word lets even amateur desktop publishers add exciting formatting to their documents.

The majority of text in a document created by a word processor is going to be in a straight line going from left to right. However, there are times, when the writer is looking to add flair or to draw attention to something. One way to draw attention to text is to have the text displayed in a semi-circle. This formatting is done easily in Microsoft's Word 2008 for Mac.

Instructions

1. Open Microsoft Word and create a new document. This can be any type of document, either regular or publishing view.

2. Click "Insert" and then "Word Art." You can also click "Word Art" in the ribbon under the main toolbar. This opens the "Word Art Ribbon."

3. Select the semi-circle word art style that you would like from selections in the ribbon. This will insert a word art object in the document. You can change the basic text by double-clicking the object. This brings up a dialog box where you can enter the text and choose the font and size of the text.

4. Adjust the word art's settings if the preset settings are not what you want. You can edit the settings under the "Format Palette" in the "Toolbox." In this palette, you can change the fill color, line color, drop shadow, and how the other text in the document wraps around the word art.

• Do not overuse word art, as it may cause the document to look too cluttered.
