Zip or cable ties have a variety of uses including home maintenance, automotive repair and audio installation. Electricians commonly use zip ties to fasten cables, electrical cords and wires. These ties are available in many sizes and colors from hardware, automotive and department stores. Once installed, a zip tie is difficult to unlock or remove without severing and replacing the piece.
Things You'll Need
- Medium-sized needle
- Micro flat-head screwdriver
Hold the locked zip tie with the protruding tail end facing you.
Insert the sharp end of the needle or screwdriver into the lock housing between the upper latch and the bottom teeth. Push the object upwards against the protruding tail until you hear a click.
Pull the protruding tail backwards out of the lock to release.
