If you need to retrieve text messages on a cell phone, use a SIM card reader. With a SIM card reader, you can retrieve your messages on your computer. It also gives you the option to back up the messages to your computer. Once you retrieve the messages with the SIM card reader, you may read them from your computer. Purchase a SIM card reader through your mobile provider or any electronics retailer.
Things You'll Need
- SIM card
- SIM card reader software
Insert the software disc that came with your SIM card reader. Read and accept the software agreement. Install the software to a folder located on your computer's hard drive.
Turn off your mobile phone. Remove the protective cover and battery. Remove the SIM card with your fingernail. The SIM card looks similar to a computer microchip.
Insert the SIM card into the SIM card reader, with the metal places facing down. Insert the SIM card reader into an available USB port on your computer.
Double-click the SIM card software's icon. Click on "Archive" to retrieve your text messages. The SIM card reader will detect your phone and retrieve the messages.
