How to Add Templates in PowerPoint


Whether you're a woodworker, a plumber, or a PowerPoint designer, templates are key to fast, high-quality work. By using the templates built into PowerPoint, you can put together fully formatted presentations without having to do all the formatting yourself.   • Open the PowerPoint application. Click the "Office" button, which is the circle in the upper-left portion of the window. Click "New."

  • Save a current presentation as a template by clicking the "Office" button and then clicking "Save As." Click "Other Formats" and then choose "PowerPoint Template" from the "Save As Type" drop-down list. Type a name for your template and then click "Save."

  • Create a template from an existing PowerPoint file. Click the "Office" button and then click "New." Click "New From Existing" and then browse to the PowerPoint file you want to use as the basis for your new presentation. Double-click the file to open it as a new presentation. This isn't a traditional template; it simply creates a copy of the original presentation that you can modify.
