  • Pictures
  • Pottery
  • Large artist canvases
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Large mirror
  • Oversized chair
  • Throw blanket
  • Use masking tape to mark off various rooms in the warehouse. Take advantage of permanent structures like support beams, electrical outlets and various floor levels. Arrange the tape until you've decided on the final lay out of the rooms inside the warehouse.

  • Create walls within the warehouse with wood and fabric, removing the tape as you place the walls. Use bookshelves positioned back to back for room delineation and storage. Hang upholstery fabric for room delineation and sound control. String aircraft wire from wall to wall and use curtain clips to hang the fabric.

  • Decorate the floor of your warehouse home. Add large area rugs to warm the floors and absorb sound.

  • Place large pieces of furniture first when decorating your warehouse. Bring in sofas, beds, dining tables and entertainment centers. Follow with side tables, coffee tables, and the remaining furniture.

  • Add draperies, bedding, pillows and cushions. Stack over-sized floor cushions in the corners for extra floor seating.

  • Layer in the accessories. Add table lamps and floor lamps. Bring in vases filled with tall silk flowers, twigs, willows and leaves. Fill bookshelves with books, pictures and pottery.

  • Hang artwork. Purchase several large artist canvases. Paint them in large circles or stripes. Don't worry about making them perfect, choose colors you like and make the patterns large to fit the scale when decorating the warehouse.

  • Lean a large rectangular mirror against the wall. If it's a dark area, lean the mirror against a wall opposite windows to add more light to the room.

  • Set a comfortable over-sized chair in a corner. Place a floor lamp behind it and place a stack of books on the floor next to the chair. Toss a casual throw blanket over the corner and you've turned an empty corner into a decorated reading nook in your warehouse home.
