Whirlpool refrigerators have a lot of different features, such as adjustable shelves and bins, humidity controlled crispers, special racks for beverages and other items, water and ice filtration and dispensing, and a wide variety of configurations, finishes and sizes. However, regardless of any other special features, if the Whirlpool refrigerator has problems with the drain, problems may occur. Cleaning the drain may be necessary if it is clogged or obstructed and is a fairly simple task to perform.
Things You'll Need
- Dishwashing liquid
- Pipe cleaner
- Clean cloth(s)
Turn off and unplug the Whirlpool refrigerator.
Remove the front access grille on the bottom front of the refrigerator by lifting up and out.
Access the drain pan in the lower left front area of the refrigerator. Lift out the drain pan and empty. Clean with warm, soapy water, rinse well and dry with a towel.
Inspect the drain and clean away possible obstructions. A pipe cleaner can be useful in clearing out the drain tube.
Reposition the drain pan and close the front access grille. Restore power.
