How to Create a Folder in Toshiba

Folders allow you to group similar files and subfolders so that you can find them more easily. For example, you can create "vacation," "2010 taxes" and "work" folders to keep those files segregated. In addition, some Toshiba support documents start with "create a folder named...," but fail to mention how to create these folders. However, Microsoft makes this task easy in Windows 7.

  • Click the "Start" button and select "Computer" to open Windows Explorer.

  • Navigate into the drive or folder where you want to create a new folder. For example, double-click "Local Disk (C:)" from the right-hand pane and double-click the "Toshiba" folder if you want to create a new folder there.

  • Click "New folder" in the toolbar immediately above the two Windows Explorer panes. Alternatively, right-click the drive or folder, point to "New" and click "Folder." A new folder appears with its default "New folder" name highlighted, so you can easily change it.

  • Type a name for your folder and press "Enter" to finish creating the folder.
