Marble is attractive and durable. It's used on floors and countertops. Though marble is a strong stone, it can crack. When it cracks, attempt to repair it instead of paying for a replacement. Fixing a cracked marble slab is not a complex task but requires some finesse and a willingness to work with several compounds.
Things You'll Need
- Liquid stone soap
- Polyester resin
- Marble dust
- Plastic putty knife
Vacuum out the cracked area of the damaged marble slab to take up any loose particles, then clean with water and liquid stone soap, using a sponge. Allow it to air-dry.
Pour 4 ounces of polyester resin into a bowl, then add 4 ounces of marble dust to the resin. Mix together with a stirrer until a paste-like consistency forms.
Squeeze epoxy adhesive into the break or crack in the marble slab. Do not allow it to dry -- immediately pour the resin/marble dust mix into the break or crack and smooth with a plastic spatula.
Pour in as much of the resin/marble dust mix as necessary, continuously smoothing it flush with the marble slab's surface until the crack is filled and smoothed even with the rest of the slab. Allow to dry and set for at least 24 hours.
