Pictures are a great way of adding color and a personal touch to one's house. Placing a group of pictures together over a couch or on top of a fire place, for example, can turn a group of photos into a focal point in the room. However, when using multiple pictures, it can be difficult to align them so the edges line up perfectly. To do this, use a level as well as some other tools, such as tape and paper.
Things You'll Need
- Brown craft paper
Determine a pattern. Take the photos you plan to use and first arrange them on a table top or on the floor to determine the pattern you wish to create. There are several different patterns depending on how many pictures you want to align, from hanging them straight across to creating a geometrical arrangement.
Lay the arrangement on top of brown craft paper and trace around each of the photos. Cut out the traced pictures.
Tape the pieces of brown craft paper on the section of wall where the photos will be aligned. Arrange them as close as possible on the wall to the pattern you laid out on the floor.
Align the photos with a level. A laser level, found at home improvement stores, works well for situations like this. The level, which attaches to the wall, shoots out either a horizontal or vertical red laser beam, allowing you to match the top or sides of the pictures, or in this case the brown craft paper, to the red line.
Measure the distance between the pieces of craft paper. Using a ruler, double check to ensure there is the same distance between the pictures, horizontally, vertically or both.
Hammer the nails through the brown kraft paper. Pull the brown kraft paper off the wall, leaving the nails intact.
Hang the pictures on the nails.
Tips & Warnings
- When taping the brown craft paper to the wall, use a tape that will not pull paint off the wall, such as painter's tape.
