How to Remove a Hyperlink From Multiple Cells in Excel 2007

Although hyperlinks can be a useful shortcut to an Internet Web page, they can be a nuisance when working on a spreadsheet document. While Microsoft Excel 2007 creates a hyperlink automatically whenever it detects a website link, you can choose to remove hyperlinks from multiple cells with a few clicks of the mouse.

  • Launch the Microsoft Excel 2007 program and open the spreadsheet that includes the hyperlinks you wish to remove. Go to "File" and select the "Open" option from the drop-down menu. Locate the file you wish to open, and click the "OK" button to open the spreadsheet into Excel.

  • Select all the cells with hyperlinks that need to be removed. If the cells are adjacent to one another, left-click on the first cell in the top corner and drag it through all the cells with hyperlinks. If the cells are separated, click each cell while holding the "Control" key on your keyboard.

  • Click on the "Home" tab and select the "Cell Styles" option. In the drop down menu, click on the "Normal" option to change the color of the hyperlink text to black and eliminate the link associated with the text.
