If you have a pile of bottle caps collecting dust, turn that trash into treasure. Bottle caps can be made useful again by turning them into coasters. Match them to your decor and personal style using paint. With a few strokes of your paintbrush, you can repurpose your bottle caps. Make a few coasters to give away as gifts or keep them to protect your own furniture form being scuffed.

Things You'll Need

  • Newspaper
  • Acrylic paints
  • Paintbrushes
  • Bottle caps
  • Cork circles or squares
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Cover your work surface with newspaper. Place bottle caps on the newspaper. Paint both the inside and outside of the bottle caps with acrylic paint. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying times.

  • Arrange the bottle caps on the cork in a way the reflects how the finished coaster should look. The caps should be arrange right side down like they would be on a bottle of soda.

  • Add a drop of glue to the inside of each bottle cap. Press the bottle cap firmly into place with the label side up.

  • Glue the other bottle caps in place. Keep them level as you glue them down to prevent drinks from being unsteady when you set a drink down.
