Pages is a part of Apple's iWork suite, and is designed for the Mac OS X operating system. Pages is a powerful word-processing program whose features include dragging and dropping images, making fliers -- or turning text on its side. Typing sideways might sound complicated on Pages, but you just need to follow a few basic steps to achieve this eye-catching effect.
Click on the "Text box" icon on the top of Pages.
Type in your text. Click away from the text box; click onto it again to select the text box.
Hold down "Shift + command." Mouse over a corner of the text box until it turns to a "Rotate" icon, which looks like a double-headed arrow bent at 90 degrees. Click and hold the left mouse button. Rotate the box until the text is sideways and oriented the way you need it. Let go of the mouse.
Tips & Warnings
- If you've rotated your text and need to add more, just click in the box. It will automatically rotate so that you can read it correctly. Once you're done, click away from the text box and it will go back to its sideways state.
