How to Remove a Headlight Relay on an Infiniti J30

Save

The headlight relay of the Infiniti J30 is necessary for the proper functioning of your vehicle's headlights. Flicking headlights or headlights working properly only on one side could be indicative of a faulty relay. If you find that the headlights on your Infiniti J30 are not working properly, and you have ruled out both the bulbs and fuses as possible causes of the problem, the relay is most likely the root of the problem. Thankfully, replacing the relay is fairly simple and should only take around half an hour to complete.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Open the hood of the J30 and locate the headlight relay where the left fender meets the engine compartment firewall.

  • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts from the cruise control throttle actuator. Lift it out of the engine compartment.

  • Remove the three relay nuts with a socket wrench. The nuts are 12 mm in size, and are located below the left wheel well.

  • Remove the 10-mm bolt from the headlight relay, and lift the relay out slightly.

  • Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the bottom of the relay and remove it from the engine compartment.
