How to Disable the Security Warning in Excel 2007 Macro

When using Excel 2007, you may open a workbook that contains a macro. Macros are Visual Basic codes that automate tasks when they are activated. Some macros may be activated by just the act of opening the Excel workbook. Because of this, Excel 2007 disables workbooks containing macros if they are from an untrusted location. This can be disabled so the macros can be utilized in the workbook.

  • Open Excel 2007 and click the "Office" button. Click "Open." Browse the files and locate the workbook. Click the workbook and the "Open" button.

  • Notice the security warning across the top of the Excel workbook. Click the right "Options" button on the security button.

  • Select "Enable Content." Click "Ok." The security warning is disabled and the macros are functional in the workbook.
