How to Make Candy Necklaces for Graduation

If you are organizing a graduation party for your child, you can make the party more exciting by providing the guests with snacks and treats that are both on-theme and tasty, such as candy necklaces that match your child's school colors. You may find it difficult to locate candy necklaces featuring specific colors. However, you can make your own candy necklaces using supplies that can be purchased from any craft store or supermarket.

Things You'll Need

  • Elastic string
  • Scissors
  • Doughnut-shaped hard candies
  • Cut a piece of elastic string to measure 18 inches long. You can find elastic string at any craft supply store in a variety of thicknesses. Select a string that has a medium to heavyweight thickness, which will hold up well as a necklace.

  • Select doughnut-shaped hard candies from a supermarket or candy shop that you want to string onto the elastic. Choose colors that are the same or similar to the graduate's school colors. This will make the candy necklace on-theme for the graduation event.

  • Insert one end of the elastic string though the doughnut candies. Fill the entire string with candies.

  • Place the two elastic string ends together, and tie them into a tight singular knot.

  • Repeat the entire process until you have as many candy necklaces as you need for each guest.
