The antifreeze or coolant on your Honda CBR F4 is essential for helping prevent your bike from overheating. Replacing the antifreeze is actually somewhat tricky, as you have to remove a few of the CBR F4's components to drain the radiator, but it does not take long. It should only take your a little more than half an hour to change the antifreeze on your Honda CBR F4.
Things You'll Need
- Phillips screwdriver
- Drain pan
- Socket wrench
- Distilled water
Turn the bike off and remove the screws securing the right air duct with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the air duct off the bike.
Remove the eight screws from the left fairing with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the left fairing off the bike.
Twist off the radiator cap. Place a drain pan underneath the radiator drain plug and use a socket wrench to loosen it. Allow the antifreeze to flow out into the drain pan. When done, tighten the plug.
Remove the cap from the reserve tank and drain the antifreeze from the reserve tank into the drain pan.
Create a mixture of 50 percent distilled water and 50 percent antifreeze. Pour the mixture into the radiator and reserve tank until they reach the "MAX" line.
Turn the bike on and rev the engine in short spurts for a minute. This will bleed the air system. Reattach the radiator cap and the reserve tank cap.
Reattach the left fairing and its screws. Reattach the right air duct and its screws.
Tips & Warnings
- Do not use tap water for the antifreeze mixture. Only use distilled water.
