How to Change My Hair & Eye Color in a Photo Online

Changing your hair and eye color in digital photos allow you to experiment with different looks before making any permanent changes to your appearance. If you do not have photo editing software, use an online-based photo editing service such as Picnik to edit your digital photos online. Picnik offers a variety of free photo editing tools and allows you to upload digital photos from a computer or import them directly from websites such as Flickr, Facebook and Myspace.

Getting Started

  • Visit the Picnik website by clicking the first link in the "References" section below.

  • Click the "Get Started" button on the website to load the Picnik application.

  • Click the "Upload a Photo" button to select a photo from your computer, then click the "Open" button.

Editing the Photo

  • Select the "Create" tab at the top of the screen, then click the "Effects" button.

  • Scroll down the list of effects and select "Tint" from the "Color" menu.

  • Adjust the properties of the paint brush in the "Effect Painting" window to the size, hardness and strength you want, then click the "Reverse Effect" checkbox.

  • Move the slider on the zoom box at the bottom of the screen to enlarge the photo, if desired.

  • Select a color that you want to use for the hair or eyes from the "Tint Color" palette.

  • Move the mouse over the hair or eyes to change its color with the paint brush. Select the "Original" tab in the "Effect Painting" window and click the "Undo" button to undo any painting mistakes, if necessary.

  • Click the "Apply" button below the "Tint Color" palette when you are done changing the hair and eye color.

Saving the Photo

  • Select the "Save & Share" tab at the top of the screen next to the "Create" tab.

  • Type your desired file name and choose your desired format and compression quality.

  • Click the "Save Photo" button to save the photo to your computer.
