How to Access Deleted Text Messages

Losing your text messages can be a frustrating experience, but if you have a SIM card, know that your messages are not lost forever. This memory card backs up your personal information, even if you cannot access it on your phone. A SIM card reader--available at most electronic retailers or wireless carriers--allows you to retrieve those deleted messages.

Things You'll Need

  • SIM card reader software
  • SIM card reader USB
  • Download and install the SIM card reader software. Save the software to a folder on your computer's hard drive. Allow your computer to restart.

  • Turn over your cell phone. Remove the protective cover. Take out the battery and SIM card; the SIM card is a microchip located in the corner. Lift it up with your fingernail to remove it.

  • Insert the SIM card into the SIM card reader USB. Insert the USB into an available port on your computer.

  • Wait for your computer to detect the device. Click the "New Hardware Device Found" message to install the components.

  • Double-click the software's icon. Wait for the software to read your SIM card and retrieve the messages. Click "Archive" to save the messages back on your phone.
