How to Change Chevy Truck Door Handles
Chevy trucks have long been synonymous with durability, and are the choice of millions around the world for camping, four-wheeling and general transportation. Although Chevy trucks are well known for the ability to withstand the wear and tear of all-purpose use, it is inevitable that you will have to perform some maintenance. Changing the door handle on your Chevy truck falls into this category, and is a rather simple process that will keep your truck operating smoothly.
Things You'll Need
- Flat head screwdriver
- 1/4-inch ratchet and socket set
- Crescent wrench
- Replacement door handle

Insert the tip of a flat head screwdriver in between the door panel and door lock in order to pry the door lock off. Remove the plastic casing on the door handle, located on the inside of the door. Pry the rubber grommet from the edge of the door with the screwdriver in order to expose the screws holding the door handle and door panel in place.

Remove the three bolts that secure the door panel to the door frame with the 1/4-inch ratchet. Apply upward pressure on the door panel and pull the panel off the door frame.

Remove the bolts that connect the door handle to the door with a crescent wrench.

Remove the door handle from the door and pull the plastic clips off the door handle in order to disconnect the latch from the door handle.

Insert the new handle into the door and fasten it in place by tightening the bolts with a 1/4-inch socket. Reinstall the door panel by performing step 2 in reverse.
