How to Replace the Lift Motor in a 2003 Ford Windstar
The window lift motor in a 2003 Ford Windstar provides the window regulator with the necessary kinetic energy to move the window up and down. The window button, mounted in the door panel, closes the window circuit when you push it, which energizes the motor. If you push the switch and nothing happens, you either have a bad switch or bad motor. Swap the switch with one from another door on your Windstar to determine if the switch is faulty. If the switch isn't faulty, you'll need to replace the window lift motor.
Instructions

1
Remove the triangle-shaped trim cover from the top-leading edge of the door panel, using the trim tool, to expose a retaining screw. Remove the inner door handle trim bezel with the trim tool to expose a retaining screw. Pry the window and lock button bezel out of the door panel with the trim tool.
-
2
Remove the hex-head screws at the bottom of the door panel and the screws you exposed by removing the trim in Step 1, using a socket wrench. Pull the trailing lower corner of the door panel away from the door by hand.

3
Lift the Windstar's door panel upward, guide the window and lock switch bezel through the hole in the door panel, and pull the door panel off the door (this may also require you to disconnect the courtesy light from the lower edge of the door panel by hand, if so equipped).
-
4
Unplug the window lift motor wiring connector from the motor by hand. Unbolt the motor from the window regulator with the socket set. Pull the old lift motor out and set it aside.
-
5
Hold the new motor to the regulator with one hand and thread the mounting bolts in with your other hand. Tighten the lift motor mounting bolts with the socket set.
-
6
Reinstall the Windstar's door panel by simply reversing the steps necessary for removal.
