How to Cover a Security Window

A security window protects a home by being many times less vulnerable than an ordinary window. The composition that makes up a security window causes it to stand out -- calling unwanted attention to the fact that it has been installed. You can cover (or "conceal") the security window so it will no longer stand out to those looking at the house. A few hardware supplies and some common household tools will be needed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Paint a louvered window grill, which has dimensions a few inches larger than the security window, an unobtrusive color that blends in with the wall of the house. Place the grill on the outside wall, over the security window. Secure the grill to the wall with wood screws using a power drill with a Phillips-head drill bit.

    • 2

Dig a hole in the ground about a foot in front of the security window with a shovel. Plant a bush in the hole so that it hides the security window from anyone looking at the house.

    • 3

Mount a window box shelf to the outside bottom of the security window with wood screws using a power drill with a Phillips-head drill bit. Place artificial potted plants on the shelf. Mount the window box to the wall over the security window with wood screws using the power drill.
