How to Replace Brushes in a Dremel 300
The Dremel 300 Series rotary tool requires new carbon motor brushes after about 50 to 60 hours of use. You can tell when the brushes need replacement because the tool will lose power, only work sometimes, make odd noises or run at reduced speed. If you experience these symptoms, you can permanently damage your tool if you continue to use it without replacing the brushes. The brushes must be replaced in pairs for proper operation. Unplug your tool from the electrical outlet.

Locate the two round brush caps on the sides of the hand grip.

Use a screwdriver to remove the caps by turning them in a counterclockwise direction.

Remove the brushes one at a time by pulling on the springs under the brush caps.

Measure the length of the brushes. If either is less than 1/8 inch long, both need replacing. Also, if one of the brush edges is rough or pitted, both need replacing.

Insert the new brushes into the holes. Make sure the curved surface of the brushes matches the curvature of the contacts inside the holes.

Use the screwdriver to replace the brush caps by turning them in a clockwise direction.

Run the tool at full speed for five minutes without putting a load on it. This will seat the brushes correctly and prolong their life.

What if the brushes are not on the end of the springs? Mine the springs come out but no brushes the tool is working fine right now except for the first speed so I wanted to check the brushes please help.
