How to Remove a Control Arm Bushing From a Honda Civic
The control arm bushings on your Honda Civic prevent any damage from occurring due to the metal-on-metal contact of the various components on the underside of the vehicle. Removing the control arm bushings is fairly simple and straightforward. You should expect to spend close to one hour removing the bushings from your Civic. Make sure that you reinstall the bushings or install replacement bushings as failure to do so may cause serious damage to the underside components of your car.

Front Bushings

Loosen the front wheel lug nuts and place a car-jack underneath the Civic. Apply the parking brake and raise the vehicle. Remove the front wheels.

Remove the nuts from the control arm with a socket wrench. Use an Allen wrench to remove the stabilizer bar attaching link assemblies from the control arm.

Remove the two bushing retainer bolts with a socket wrench. Pull the bushing off the control arm and install a replacement bushings.

Reinstall the two bushing retaining bolts.

Reattach the stabilizer bar attaching link assemblies and the nuts to the control arm. Reattach the wheels and lower the Civic.
Rear Bushings

Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts and place a car-jack underneath the Civic. Apply the parking brake and raise the vehicle. Remove the rear wheels.

Use a socket wrench to remove the stabilizer bar-to-link nuts and bolts. Remove the rear stabilizer bar.

Remove the two bushing retaining bolts from the arm and pull the bushings off. Install replacement bushings and reattach the bushing retaining bolts.

Reattach the rear stabilizer bar and its accompanying nuts and bolts.

Reattach the rear wheels and lower the Civic.
