How Do I Remove the HVAC Box on a 2000 Blazer?

The HVAC box, or AC unit, is located on the central dashboard of your 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. Removing the HVAC box is a fairly simple task, as the box is secured in the vehicle with just a few screws. In order to remove the HVAC box, however, you will also need to disconnect the Blazer's battery to prevent any accidental shocks. It is a fairly simple process that should not take you more than 15 minutes.

  • Socket wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver

      Open the Blazer's hood and use a socket wrench to remove the negative (black) cable from the battery.

      Remove the 4 screws from the central dash panel frame using a Phillips screwdriver. There is 1 screw situated in each corner of the frame. Pull the frame off.

      Remove the 2 screws holding the HVAC box in place using a Phillips screwdriver.

      Pry the HVAC box toward you using a flathead screwdriver. Once the HVAC box pops out, disconnect the electrical connector and pull it out of the Blazer. Reverse the process to reinstall and reconnect the battery.
