      Unplug the Eureka Whirlwind HEPA vacuum power cord from the outlet. Place the handle in the upright position.

      Pull the hose out of the top of the vacuum beside the self-cleaning duster. Flex the hose and shake it toward the floor. Most blockages in the hose come out using this method.

      Remove the two screws securing the top of the brush roll cover to the vacuum with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift the brush roll cover off the vacuum.

      Unclip the hose connections on both ends of the base hose. The base hose is the short hose that install on the top of the vacuum. Press the clips inward with your fingers and pull the hose away.

      Remove any dirt and dust accumulation from the base hose port on the vacuum head. Shake the base hose to remove blockages in the hose. Reattach the base hose until the clips lock into place. Place the brush roll cover back on top of the vacuum and secure with the two retaining screws.
