How to Wallpaper a Small Bathroom

Save

Whether you are decorating a guest bathroom or just another small bathroom in your home, there are ways that you can use wallpaper in your small bathroom to enhance its aesthetic appeal as well as make the space appear larger than it really is. Additionally, you can use a variety of wallpapering techniques, such as using bold patterns or choosing specific locations for the wallpaper to be placed, to accent the room. Regardless of which technique you use, wallpapering your small bathroom is not a difficult task.

  • Select a wallpaper design that features light colors, such as white or light pastels, to create a sense of openness. Light colors make a space feel larger than it actually is.

  • Create an accent wall in the bathroom by papering only one focal wall. Wallpapering only one wall creates the illusion that there is more space for you to work with. To complement the accent wall, paint the other walls a coordinating solid color.

  • Wallpaper only the upper half of the walls, creating a wainscoting effect. This effect ensures that the wallpaper's pattern does not overwhelm the small space.

  • Use wallpaper with a heavy or graphic pattern to give the bathroom a great amount of character. To prevent the wallpaper from clashing with other decorative accents in the bathroom, purchase fixtures and other accessories in solid colors only.
