Glycerin, also called glycerol, is a thick, syrupy liquid that has no color or odor. Glycerin is often used as an ingredient in body wash and soap because it has moisturizing properties and is an effective solvent in water and alcohol. Whether used alone or combined with other ingredients, glycerin softens skin and attracts moisture from the air. Pure glycerin soap can be used as the base for homemade glycerin body wash or liquid glycerin can be combined with a variety of other ingredients to make a natural homemade body wash.
