How to Decorate for a Jungle Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a fun summertime activity offered by many churches across the country. Most Vacation Bible School programs run for a week per age group or if the church has enough space, a week-long program for all ages. Themes change from year to year and different Bible lessons are presented. Decorating for a jungle-themed Vacation Bible School program is fun and the options are endless. Students will enjoy learning in a jungle for a week.

  • Create or download and print fun signs to post each day of the week welcoming students to Vacation Bible School. Make a jungle-themed welcome banner to display over the entrance. Add a few balloons in jungle colors of green, brown and tan to each side of the banner to make it more fun and inviting.

  • Create and hang jungle signs on each classroom door with a catchy phrase and the grade level for that room. Make it more fun by giving each classroom a jungle animal name, such as tiger, zebra, giraffe or monkey.

  • Decorate the classroom. Create a display on poster board of large trees and jungle animals for the corner of the room where most of the teaching will take place. Hang paper vines from the ceiling. Give each child a white sheet of paper to draw on and color as a place mat for their table area.

  • Decorate the snack area with balloons and vines hanging from the ceiling. Provide jungle-themed paper plates for snacks. Napkins and paper cups in solid colors of green, tan and brown add to the look.

  • Decorate the craft tables with brown table cloths and small jungle trees. Provide small dishes with jungle tattoos for the kids to put on. Hang monkeys and parrots from the ceiling.
