How to Hook Up a TV Cable to Your Apartment

Use coaxial cable to hook up TV cable in your apartment.

Cable wires can limit the arrangement of your furniture by forcing you to keep your entertainment system on a certain wall because that's were the cable wire is. Adding a cable TV connection to your apartment means running the cable wire to the desired destination. Once the coaxial TV cable is properly installed in your apartment, you can then enjoy your favorite cable TV programs.

Things You'll Need

• 2-way cable splitter
• Coaxial cable wire
• Staple gun
• Drill
• Spackling paste

Instructions

1. Track down the cable connection from outside. Look for a break in the wire where the wire that goes into your apartment connects to another wire by a RF (Radio Frequency) connector. Unplug both cables from the RF connector.

2. Plug the wire that runs into your apartment into one of the ports of the two-sided RF connector. Plug the other wire into the single-ended port of the RF connector. Plug the new coaxial wire into the remaining port.

3. Run the new coaxial wire to the wall of your apartment where you want the wire installed. While running the wire, use a staple gun to staple the wire to the apartment wall so the wire doesn't drag. Drill a hole through the wall where you want to insert the cable wire. Feed the wire through the hole. Insert spackling paste around the wire to close the hole.
