How to Make Felt Roses

Felt flowers are a popular and easy way to adorn headbands, clothing and decorative items like wreaths. You can even create an entire bouquet of felt flowers in coordinating colors. Felt roses are simple and inexpensive to make. As they only require basic craft tools, they are perfect for beginning crafters. Create your own felt roses to add romance and vintage flair to your wardrobe or home decor.

Things You'll Need

  • Felt sheets in coordinating colors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • 8-inch cardboard circle
  • Scissors
  • Place the cardboard circle on the felt sheet. Cut a circle out of the felt using the cardboard circle as a template.

  • Cut the felt circle into a freehand spiral shape, starting at the outer edge of the circle and curling tighter as you approach the center. Make the spiral 1/2 to 1 inch wide.

  • Start with the outer-edge tail end and curl the felt spiral onto itself to form a rosebud. The center of the spiral will become the rosebud base and the outer rings will form the petals. Secure the felt with hot glue as you go.
