How to Make a Monkey Diaper Cake
If you're planning a baby shower for your friends, putting together a monkey diaper cake can make for a striking centerpiece for the gift table. You have the dramatic look of a multiple-tier cake, as well as the fun of a monkey theme, and your friend has a week's worth of diapers to start out with her new little one.
Things You'll Need
- Diapers (size 1 or 2)
- Ribbon
- Beads and other decorative items
- Stuffed monkey
- Double-sided tape
- Metal or plastic base
- Baby bottles
- Clear rubber bands

1
Open the package of diapers -- you'll need at least 50 total -- and roll each into a scroll. Put a clear rubber band around each one. If the diapers have a decorative theme, place that side on the outside or the inside, if you want the "cake" to be white.

Set the baby bottle in the center of your round base. Arrange the scrolled diapers in a circle around the bottle until you've made a circle that is 1 foot in diameter. Tie your ribbon (preferably an inch or more wide) around the entire layer. Brown should be a dominant color in this ribbon to match the monkey theme.

Add a second layer, about 10 inches in diameter, on top of the first. You'll need another bottle to serve as the core piece and to tie the diapers together with a ribbon. Finally, place a ring of diapers around a third baby bottle and set this on top as a third layer.

Decorate as you see fit. The stuffed monkey can sit on the cake or sit next to it if it's too big. Smaller monkey-related items, banana stickers, palm trees, coconut trees or other items will make your cake the talk of the shower.
