How to Accessorize Bedroom Dressers

The bedroom dresser is a necessary piece of furniture for most people, but it also provides a blank canvas for decorating. An empty bedroom dresser makes a bedroom look unfinished, but a properly accessorized bedroom dresser can make a bedroom feel like a cozy, restful retreat -- just as it should. Accessorizes are not only decorative, but they can also be functional as well. Lamps, for example, are both attractive and add soft, romantic light to the room.

Things You'll Need

• Large mirror
• Pair of lamps
• Framed artwork or photos
• Vase of flowers or a plant
• Books
• Silver box

Instructions

1. Hang a large mirror over the dresser. Lean smaller photos or other works of art against the mirror. This creates a visually interesting, layered look.

2. Set a pair of lamps on the dresser. Place one on either end flanking the mirror to add symmetry and balance.

3. Gather up small bottles of lotions and perfumes and place them in an attractive basket or other container on the dresser.

4. Set a bouquet of flowers in front of the mirror. The reflection will make them look twice as large. Adding flowers or a plant adds beauty and life to the bedroom.

5. Stack some books on the dresser. Remove the jackets and face the bindings inward to create a neutral palate and to add texture to the smooth dresser top.

6. Add a bit of sparkle to the bedroom dresser by including some silver accessories such as a small silver jewelry box, cup or even a mirror and brush set.
