How to Remove a 1998 Dodge Caravan Blower Motor Resistor

The blower motor resistor (or relay) on your 1998 Dodge Caravan is a device that powers the blower motor, which is responsible for blowing warm or cold air through your vehicle's cabin vents. Replacement of the blower motor resistor is not a challenging job; however, access is only possible through the vehicle's glove box, and this space is tight. In order to install a new blower motor resistor, you will have to remove the old one first.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Caravan's hood and remove the negative battery cable.

    • 2

Open the passenger side door and open the glove box. Remove the contents of the glove box and set them aside.

    • 3

Pop the two latches on the inside of your glove box hinges. This will allow the glove box to drop completely downward, which will give you a little extra room to work with.

    • 4

Remove the electrical wiring harness from the back of the blower motor resistor by pressing in the two tabs on its side. Pull the connector off while depressing these two tabs.

    • 5
