How to Adjust a Throttle on a 2007 Honda CBR600RR

Making adjustments to your Honda CBR500RR motorcycle isn't a difficult task if you have a working knowledge of your motorcycle and its different components. You won't even require very many tools to complete the task either. By performing this task at home, you can save a significant expense. The throttle on your motorcycle engages the engine. Improper adjustment of the throttle will affect the acceleration of your motorcycle, and you will also notice a decline in engine performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the locknut that holds the throttle cable to the hand grip.

    • 2

Find the barrel style adjustment nut next to the locknut.

    • 3

Twist the locknut counterclockwise with a pair of pliers to loosen it.

    • 4

Rotate the barrel nut in either direction with the pliers to adjust the throttle. Ideally, there should be between 1/16 inch to 3/16 inch of free play at the throttle. Twist your handlebars all the way to the left then all the way to the right. Look at the throttle -- it should not stay open as you turn the handlebars.
