Rotate a Screen With ATI

You can rotate monitor orientation with AMD (formerly ATI) Radeon Graphics Cards through Windows 7's default software. However, if you are not using Windows 7 or you are using more than three monitors, you can adjust the orientation of each monitor by using AMD's Eyefinity software. The Eyefinity software has more features than Windows 7's monitor management software; however, the Windows 7 software is sufficient for most users.

Instructions

  1. Rotate Display Orientation With Windows 7

    • 1

      Right-click on the desktop.

    • 2

Left-click on the "Screen Resolution" option.

    • 3

Select the monitor your want to adjust from the top menu. If you're only using one monitor, only one should appear.

    • 4

Click on the "Orientation:" drop-down menu and select "Landscape" if the monitor is running with its wider side parallel to the ground, or select "Portrait" if the monitor is running with its slimmer side parallel to the ground.

    • 5

Click "Apply" to change the monitor's orientation.

    • 6

Select "Keep" from the menu if the orientation is correct. If it is incorrect, click "Revert" or wait for Windows to revert to the previous settings.

    • 7

Repeat from Step 3 if you are adjusting orientation for multiple monitors.

    • 8

      Click "OK" to finish.

    Rotate Screen Orientation With Eyefinity

    • 9

Click on the arrow next to the computer's time and date display on the Start menu to display the icons for all running programs.

    • 10

Right-click on the red-colored ATI or AMD icon, depending on your software version.

    • 11

Bring the mouse pointer over the monitor you want to adjust from the list.

    • 12

Move the mouse pointer over the "Rotate Display" option.

    • 13

Select "Landscape" if the monitor is running with its wider side parallel to the ground, or select "Portrait" if the monitor is running with its slimmer side parallel to the ground.

    • 14

Repeat the process from Step 1 if you are using additional monitors.

Tips & Warnings

  • Press the "Identify" button when selecting a monitor through the Windows 7 setup to help identify which screen is which.

  • If the screen on the monitor appears upside down, select "Landscape (flipped)" or "Portrait (flipped)" from the orientation drop-down menu.

  • The ATI brand name was absorbed into AMD when the two companies merged. ATI Radeon Graphics Cards are now called AMD Radeon Graphics Cards.

  • The computer may not recognize the rotated orientation when it is first turned on. The loading screen may appear with the wrong orientation when you first turn the computer on. However, it should readjust when the operating system loads.

  • Selecting the incorrect monitor orientation can make managing options on the screen disorienting. The Windows 7 default software will revert to the previous settings if you don't click anything when the screen is adjusted. However, the Eyefinity software does not.
