Instructions on Replacing the Antenna Mast on a 1997 Pathfinder

A power antenna mast, like those installed on the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder, can be broken from vandalism and unfortunate encounters at the car wash. Fortunately for the Pathfinder owner, replacing the antenna mast is a fairly simple process that requires only the replacement mast, which is available through any Nissan dealer, and an adjustable wrench.

Instructions

    • 1

Place an adjustable wrench, or a "crescent" wrench, onto the nut at the base of the antenna mast. Turn the nut to the left and loosen it completely. Remove the nut from the mast.

    • 2

Turn on the radio from inside the car. This will cause the plastic cable that extends the mast to remove itself from the motor. Pull the mast out of the mounting plate.

    • 3

Push the end of the plastic cable for the new mast into the hole for the antenna mast until it can go no further. Place the antenna mast into the mounting plate opening.

    • 4

Turn the radio off. The antenna will retract and seat itself in the antenna opening. Replace the nut and tighten it with the adjustable wrench.
