Kohler One-Piece Toilet Installation

Kohler's one-piece toilets offer a compact design where the toilet bowl and tank do not come apart. As with any other toilet, you will need to apply a wax seal to create a watertight seal between the toilet and the drain pipe in the floor. Kohler supplies two tee bolts, metal washers and nuts as well as a metal flange to aid in the installation process. If you do not have these pieces, you can pick up replacement parts at your local hardware store.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrape off the old wax seal from the flange using a putty knife, if another toilet was previously installed. Thread the two tee bolts through the two holes in the flange and place it around the drain hole.

    • 2

Remove the new wax seal from its package and place it on the bottom of the toilet, around the drain hole. Carefully place the toilet over the drain hole in the floor so the tee bolts fit through the corresponding holes in the base of the toilet.

    • 3

Lean on the toilet, applying an even amount of weight to each side and the front and back of the toilet. This will create a watertight seal. If you move the toilet, it will break the wax seal.

    • 4

Place washers over the bolts and tighten nuts over them, making sure the "This Side Up" writing faces upward. Use a hack saw to trim the portion of the bolts that stick up beyond the nuts.

    • 5

Screw the water supply hose into the bottom of the toilet tank. Screw the other end of the hose into the water control valve. Turn the control handle counterclockwise to turn on the water supply to the toilet.
