How to Repair a Sony KP-53XBR200 Convergence

Repair the convergence to get a clear, focused picture.

Improve the picture quality of your Sony television by repairing the convergence. Sony Projection televisions use three separate colors to produce the picture. The three colors used by the television are red, blue and green. The Sony KP-53XBR200 needs the colors to work together to reflect the right image from the video input. If problems occur with them working together, the picture will be distorted or blurry. The convergence can be repaired on this unit without needing a technician.

1. Turn on the television and allow it to warm up for at least 10 minutes. The convergence guns work best when they are running at a high temperature. Make sure the cable or video signal is connected to the television before starting the repair.

2. Open the drop down panel on the front of the television to access the "Auto Focus" button. Press the "Auto Focus" button to display the cross pattern image, and if the cross is dark or out of focus then convergence repair is necessary. The cross will be white and in the center of the screen when the convergence is completely done.

3. Start the "Auto Focus" and let the television auto correct the convergence. Do not try to perform other operations on the television while it is performing the auto focus process. Watch the video once the convergence repair is complete to confirm the picture quality has improved.
