How to Fix the High Beam Indicator on a Hyundai Accent

The high-beam indicator on your Hyundai Accent uses one of the many lights known as cluster lights on the instrument panel of the dashboard. Replacing the cluster light involves removing the dashboard trim from the instrument panel, removing the instrument panel itself, and replacing the bulb. Alternatively, if all of the cluster lights are out, that could mean an issue with the cluster light fuse, in which case replacing the fuse would fix the problem.

Instructions

  1. Bulb

    • 1

Turn off the Accent's engine and remove the keys from the ignition.

    • 2

Unscrew the four screws on the black plastic trim around the instrument panel. Move the steering wheel as low as it can go. This will make it easier to remove the trim.

    • 3

Pull the trim off the dashboard. Remove the two bolts securing the instrument panel to the dashboard with a socket wrench. Disconnect the three electrical connectors from the rear of the panel. Pull the instrument panel out of the vehicle.

    • 4

Rotate the high-beam indicator bulb counterclockwise and replace it with a new 161-type bulb. Reconnect the connectors and place the instrument panel back into the vehicle. Reinstall the two bolts.

    • 5

Place the trim back onto the vehicle and reinstall the four screws.

    Fuse

    • 6

Turn off the Accent's engine and remove the keys from the ignition.

    • 7

Open the fuse panel below and to the left of the steering wheel. Locate the fuse labeled "A/BAG IND."

    • 8

Remove the "A/BAG IND" fuse and replace it with a new 10A fuse.

    • 9

      Close the fuse panel.
