Things You'll Need
- 4 slices of uncooked bacon
- 750-ml bottle of bourbon
- Maple syrup
- Angostura bitters
- Large pitcher
- Cocktail shaker
Instructions
-
Preparation
-
1
Fry three to four slices of bacon, straining the fat out of the frying pan and into a separate container, four to five hours before you plan to drink.
-
2
Take 1 oz. of the still warm bacon fat and pour it into the pitcher, adding the 750-ml bottle of bourbon. Stir the mixture so the fat dissolves into the bourbon, and allow it to sit at room temperature for several hours.
-
-
3
Place the pitcher in your freezer one hour before you plan to serve the drink. The fat from the bacon will rise to the top of the pitcher, allowing you to remove it.
Mixing the Drink
-
4
Pour the now-infused bourbon back into its original container, or leave it in the pitcher for serving.
-
5
Combine 2 oz. of the bourbon, 1/4 oz. maple syrup, two dashes of the bitters and ice into a shaker. Shake.
-
6
Strain contents into a glass and enjoy.
